Walking In The Light

When we reach the young professional stage of life, we truly begin to solidify our worldview. For Christians, that perspective is rooted in Jesus Christ. We perceive a world surrounded in darkness, with the only answer to that darkness coming from the light that Jesus brings to all who seek it.

In Ephesians 5:8-10, it says, “For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light (for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth) and find out what pleases the Lord.” Regardless if we grew up in a Christian home or became a Christian later in life, we were all once in darkness.  We were born sinners in a sinful world.  But when we accept Christ, we now walk in light.

What does walking in the light look like?  In Ephesians 5, it talks about the fruits of light being goodness, righteousness, and truth. These traits are positive and beautiful, but there is only one way to cultivate them in our daily lives. Through having a personal relationship with Jesus. Our relationship with Him is one of transformation. The more we invest time and energy into strengthening our relationship, the more He transforms us and bestows us the fruits of children of light.

The question for us is, “Are we cultivating light?”  Are we spending time with Jesus?  We no longer walk in darkness and there is a world out there that doesn’t have to either.  Let’s cultivate light and spread its fruits to those around us.
