Unshaken in Our Giving

A Life Poured Out for Others

We live in a culture that often asks, “What can I get?” But the way of Jesus reframes the question: “What can I give?”

Galatians 5:13 reminds us, “Serve one another humbly in love.” Service is not an optional practice; it is foundational to discipleship. It is not limited to mission trips or structured outreach events. It is a daily posture of the heart.

Jesus modeled this perfectly. He did not come to be served, but to serve, offering His life for humanity. When we give our time, skills, resources, and compassion, we reflect His character to a world longing for hope.

Luke 6:38 reinforces this truth: “Give, and it will be given to you… For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.” God operates not from scarcity, but from abundance. As we give, He replenishes us with joy, peace, and spiritual maturity.

For Adventist young professionals, service can take many forms. It may mean mentoring someone in your field, volunteering at your church, leading an AYP chapter event, or simply being present for a friend navigating a difficult season. Every act of service, whether visible or unseen, becomes meaningful when offered in Christ’s name.

Service shapes us. It loosens the grip of self-centered living and anchors our lives in God’s mission. When our identity is rooted there, no level of busyness, pressure, or personal challenge can shake our commitment to serve.

As the world focuses on gifts under the tree, may we remember the greater invitation. God calls us to give ourselves: our time, our talents, and our love.

When we give like Jesus, we don’t just brighten someone else’s day. We grow into unshakable servants shaped by His heart and His example.
