The Path to Purpose: Prosper as Disciple-Makers

Young adults often find themselves at a crossroads, seeking their purpose and direction in life. Throughout everything that is happening, many young adults are drawn to the call of discipleship. This means that as a young adult, you are adopting a set of beliefs, and finding ways of reflecting it through faith, service, and love. ADRA’s mission extends beyond immediate relief efforts as it fosters long-term success and upholds the next generation of disciple-makers. God promised us in Zechariah 8:12. ADRA’s initiatives cultivate a ground where young adults can thrive and grow as leaders.

In Zechariah 8:12, we are reminded of God’s promise: ”For the seed shall be prosperous;the vine shall give her fruit, and the ground shall give her increase, and the heavens shall give their dew;and I will cause the remnant of this people to possess all these things.” Through its initiatives, ADRA is a testament to the fulfillment of this promise, cultivating a world where all can thrive.

This verse showcases a promise about growth and prosperity, which ADRA fulfills through its dedication to cultivating young adults as impactful leaders and disciple-makers in their communities. Becoming a disciple is about following Jesus and living according to all his teachings, which involves a deep, personal commitment to spiritual growth and a dedication to serving others. To begin, there is a need and desire to know Jesus more intimately and to allow him to shape our lives through his love and teachings.

Becoming part of a supportive faith community is important for being a disciple. Joining a young adult group through church or bible studies will allow you to become part of fellowship, worship, and support. Engaging with others with the same faith provides a community of God-like people. This can also help deepen one’s faith through prayer, and worship, and encourages us to stay connected to God for a walk closer walk with Him.

Discipleship is linked to service as Jesus’s life was a testament to serving others selflessly. Young adults can become disciples by seeking opportunities to help those in need, for example, volunteering, community service, or doing everyday acts of kindness. A disciple should not only follow Jesus but lead people to him. Sharing your faith, having conversations, or living out one’s faith can help others see Christ through one’s actions.

The road to becoming a disciple is not always an easy one. Peer pressure and skepticism can deter young adults from continuing this journey. For this reason, it is essential to have a strong relationship with Jesus, and faith and perseverance are vital. Keep in mind that Jesus provides courage and helps us overcome all obstacles. Remember that by participating in a faith group, reading the Bible, lending a helping hand to others, looking for opportunities to serve or support faith-based organizations like ADRA, and sharing your beliefs with others, you can improve your life and inspire others to follow in your footsteps.
