Isaiah 55:12

Our minds live in a world of constant progress. As each year passes new forms of efficiency are introduced. We wake up, go to work, do our daily tasks, come home, and do it all over again. For some, this packed schedule meets all their needs, but for many, it can take a toll and anything outside of our work schedule seems like extra effort.

When life’s burdens weigh on you, it can be hard to stop your thoughts. With all this weight surrounding you, gratitude can be the last thing on your mind. It is a thing everyone can benefit from, but it isn’t always the first that comes to mind when dealing with the woes of life.

Gratitude is “a thankfulness for the good things in your life.” Even if it isn’t first nature, it can be learned and applied to help put life into perspective.

Have you ever stopped to think about what a gentle breeze feels like, or taken the time to admire sunlight filtering through the clouds? Small details like this can be overlooked in our fast-paced world. But looking for the small things can be the first step to creating a more joyful life.

Isaiah 55:12 is a prime example of the benefits enjoyed from a life full of gratitude. “You will go out in joy and be led forth in peace; the mountains and hills will burst into song before you, and all the trees of the field will clap their hands” (Isaiah 55:12).

Having a joyful disposition when you go about your day, or enduring life’s problems with a peace that surpasses all understanding. These are both things that can be achieved when we spend more time observing life with gratitude with the help of God’s guidance. Ask God to help you to see the little blessing in life. Ask Him to show you the beauty in life’s everyday moments.

Incorporating gratitude into our lives is not just about acknowledging the good times but also about finding silver linings during difficult moments. It’s a conscious effort to shift our focus from what’s lacking to what’s abundant. This practice can transform our mindset, making us more resilient and better equipped to handle stress. Research has shown that gratitude can improve mental health, enhance relationships, and even boost our physical well-being. By developing a habit of gratitude, we can foster a deeper connection with ourselves, others, and God, leading to a more fulfilling and balanced life.

Sometimes it’s hard, but taking one tiny step forward is still a step in the right direction.
