Spending Quality Time with Jesus

-

What does your time with God look like? Through the busyness of life, I’ve been reminded of the importance of devoting myself to Christ each and every day. Investing time and energy in our relationship with God grows us closer to Him and enables us to be collaborators in His mission!

In Romans 10:17, I am reminded that our “faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ.” Reading the Word grows our understanding of God! The note in Psalm 1:2 to “meditate on his law day and night” points out that reading Scripture alone is not enough. You see, we must internalize what we read in the Bible and allow the Holy Spirit to help us interpret the Word. Finally, we all know that relationships require communication, and Matthew 6:6 provides a reminder to “pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.” Without open and regular communication it’s impossible to grow deep!

I know that it is often easier to want to deepen our devotion with Christ than to actually make it a reality. Time is scarce, life is busy, and our mind is distracted with responsibilities all around us. But while our day-to-day obligations are temporal, our relationship with Jesus is eternal.

This week, reflect on the space, time, and methods in which you spend time with Christ and surrender all to Him! I believe and pray that you are inspired in new ways that grow your spiritual journey!
