Living Out Faith
In the fast-paced and ever-changing landscape of modern professional life, it’s easy to lose sight of our spiritual foundations amidst the demands of career, relationships, and personal growth. As young adult Seventh-day Adventist professionals, it’s essential to establish and maintain a firm grounding in Christ, drawing strength and guidance from His teachings as we navigate the complexities of our professional journeys.
In Colossians 2:6-7, the apostle Paul writes, “So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.” These words serve as a powerful reminder of the importance of being rooted in Christ, both in our personal lives and in our professional endeavors.
To be rooted in Christ means more than just acknowledging His existence or attending church services; it’s about allowing His teachings to permeate every aspect of our lives, including our careers. Just as a tree draws nourishment and stability from its roots, so too do we draw strength and resilience from our relationship with Christ as we face the challenges and opportunities of the professional world.
So, what does it look like to be rooted in Christ as young adult Seventh-day Adventist professionals?
1. Grounded in Faith:
Our faith in Christ forms the bedrock of our identity and values. It shapes our worldview, informs our decision-making, and guides our interactions with others in the workplace. By grounding ourselves in the teachings of Christ, we can navigate ethical dilemmas, overcome adversity, and maintain integrity in all aspects of our professional lives.
2. Growing in Knowledge and Understanding:
Just as a tree grows and matures over time, so too should our faith and understanding of Christ deepen as we progress in our careers. This growth comes through regular study of the Scriptures, prayer, and fellowship with other believers. As we seek to know Christ more intimately, we become better equipped to represent Him effectively in our professional spheres.
3. Strengthened in Resilience:
The professional world can be fraught with challenges, setbacks, and disappointments. However, being rooted in Christ provides us with a source of strength and resilience that enables us to persevere in the face of adversity. Our faith empowers us to trust in God’s providence, even when circumstances seem uncertain, and to find hope and courage amidst trials.
4. Fruitful in Service and Impact:
Ultimately, being rooted in Christ is not just about personal growth but also about bearing fruit in service to others and making a positive impact in the world around us. As young adult Seventh-day Adventist professionals, we have a unique opportunity to be ambassadors for Christ in our workplaces, demonstrating His love, compassion, and grace through our words and actions.
