Quarantine of Conversion

“Our Heavenly Father has a thousand ways to provide for us of which we know nothing” (MHH 281.5).  I was ready for 2021 to be the most awesome year of my life!  Coming off of a 2020 in which I experienced a quarantine of conversion, I was ready to see what God had in store for 2021!  During the 2020 summer I read through the Bible three times. This shifted my perspective on life so much so that I decided to trust God with things in which I knew He could only do.  I met January 2021 with a strict longing to trust God differently than I had before, the way He wants to be trusted by you and me.

Going into my penultimate semester of school, I decided to not take out any more loans and dive deeper into debt.  I asked God, the One Who can  “ do exceeding abundantly beyond anything I ask or think ”  (Ephesians 3:20) ,  to pay for my school bill that semester,  and  lo and behold,  He  did ! I thought to myself: “OK God, I see You. What’s next?” During this time, I became in need of a place to live as I was in transition. Not having proper capital to survive in these California streets ha, I asked God to provide housing for me this year. Yes, housing, in which I would not have to pay for monetarily.  And lo and behold again, you guessed it! God did just that! Or so, I thought. Oftentimes, God does not answer our prayers to just show us Who He is, but also  to show us who we are . Are we willing to trust God with everything? Are we willing to ask God for things that others would deem crazy? Are we willing to ask God for things that can ONLY come from His hand?

Well after a few weeks at my new place, the homeowners said: “This is not what we signed up for.”  In other words, it is time for you to go buddy!  I thought to myself: “What am I going to do?”  Being led to this state by the Spirit, I recently drove cross country from Florida with most of my money being eaten up in gas.  What friends (Who have not helped out already?) being in a new state or funds (just started a new job at the time) do I have to help and provide for me at this moment? None. All I could do was trust God.

As I prayed, I could not help but think: “Wait!  God already answered my prayer for housing, so I should not ask Him again?”  As God sees us trying to navigate through the turbulent times in our lives, He is waiting for us to ask of Him and to “expect great things from Him” (COL, 146) .  He is a God Who “perfects what concerns us” (Psalm 138:8) and Who “ is for us ” (Psalm 56:9),  which equates to  Him  wanting the very best for us,  not just in the hereafter, but in the herenow.

After a tumultuous week of packing my things and contemplating having to sleep in my car, I received a call from a family I did not know. By the grace of God, they paid for me to be in an Airbnb for a week. Then God opened a door for me to find another residence, rent free.  Yes! He supplied all my needs (Philippians 4:19) again! It feels good to not have to worry about how you will survive, knowing that the One Who has made the stars is making your path. Praise God!  Whether it be school, housing, relationships, or what has us in this life, God always has  ways to provide for  us  of  which  we  know nothing !  Will you trust God today with whatever you are facing?  Will you trust and allow Him to see you through? I guarantee if you do, you will soar to high places with God.  Let God have it today.
