We are called to serve. Around this time each year, I am reminded of the call God placed on my heart to start an Instagram page called Adventist Young Professionals. It was just 3 years ago in the fall of 2019. I had seen dozens of my friends stray from church due to a lack of a community, opportunities to grow their faith, as well as meaningful opportunities to serve Jesus.
When I published an IG page to share stories and experiences, I had no idea that a few months later, COVID-19 would change our world and open doors for AYP to virtually connect young professionals from across 6 continents. I had no idea that a virtual ministry would eventually grow to support young professionals through an array of local chapters. I had no idea that God would provide us with resources to gather each year for an annual convention that equips young professionals to lead for Christ! I had no idea that a calling that appeared to be size of a mustard seed would grow to a global movement with dozens of team members, hundreds of gatherings each year, and over 6,000 young professionals across the globe.
As I lead a team of incredible young, Christ-centered leaders, I am reminded of John 3:30 which reminds us that “He must become greater; I must become less.” As a team, we seek to serve in the background, we seek to support the ideas that God is placing on the lives of AYPers, we seek for Jesus to be the center of it all! We believe that thriving for Jesus means giving Him all the credit!
This Thanksgiving season, I invite you to consider what God is asking of you! Maybe it’s having a conversation with someone you know, maybe it’s getting involved in ministry at your local church, maybe it’s taking a leap of faith and starting something brand new to share Jesus with our world.
Whatever burden God has placed on your heart, say yes! Commit yourself with the mindset of getting involved for the Kingdom. Commit yourself to say I will go! Jesus is coming soon, and we have an important part to play in hastening His soon return. What are you doing to share Jesus with our world?
