Gaby Victor’s Story

Becoming Adventist by Choice and Living with Purpose

Growing up in the Seventh-day Adventist Church, Gaby knew the basics: Sabbath was Saturday, not Sunday. That weekly rhythm shaped her weekends, but beyond that, she didn’t fully grasp what it meant to be a Seventh-day Adventist, or even a follower of Christ. For years, faith felt more like a routine than a relationship.

That began to change when she started attending a Haitian Adventist church where a youth pastor began leading Friday night vespers. With energy, creativity, and a passion for helping young people grow, he created space for meaningful connection. Vespers became more than a service; they became moments of reflection, joy, and growth. Through Bible activities and canvassing, Gaby began to see God not as distant or abstract, but as present and personal. That’s when things began to click, why she was a Christian, why she was an Adventist, and what it really meant to follow Jesus.

Discovering Purpose Through AYP and the Promise of Romans 8

Gaby’s connection to Adventist Young Professionals (AYP) began with a friend who had attended a previous gathering. After hearing how impactful the experience was, Gaby decided to join her the following year, a decision that would mark a turning point in her spiritual journey.

Being part of a community so intentional about faith, excellence, and mission opened new doors for growth. Surrounded by other young adults pursuing Christ with purpose, Gaby felt both inspired and challenged to go deeper in her walk with God.

One verse in particular has stood out during this season – Romans 8:31-32:

“What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare His own Son, but gave Him up for us all how will He not also with Him graciously give us all things?”

This passage has become an anchor for Gaby. It reminds her that she is deeply valued — the apple of God’s eye. If God was willing to sacrifice His own Son for her, what could He possibly withhold? It’s a truth that brings comfort in moments of uncertainty and fuels her confidence to walk forward with trust.
