From Summer Camp to Calling

Diamond Taylor’s Journey of Faith and Belonging

Diamond Taylor was born and raised in Denver, Colorado, growing up alongside her twin sister and younger brother in a Adventist home. Church was always part of the rhythm of life, but it wasn’t until she turned 17 that her faith became something personal. That’s when everything changed—when her relationship with God stopped being inherited and started being chosen.

How a camp experience turned tradition into personal conviction

A turning point came during a two-week summer Adventist summer camp. Between horseback riding, archery, and tubing on the lake, Diamond found herself most moved by the daily chapel sessions. For the first time, she saw the Bible not just as a book of rules but as a blueprint for life. Most importantly, she encountered Jesus in a new light—not as a distant religious figure, but as a Savior who loved her more than she loved herself. That realization gripped her heart. She didn’t want to miss out on what it meant to belong to someone like Jesus forever.

Years later, that desire for spiritual belonging led Diamond to Adventist Young Professionals. She first joined a few of the online groups, but it wasn’t long before she became involved with the Dallas-Fort Worth chapter. AYP quickly became more than just a network it became a home. “It’s such a blessing,” Diamond shared, “to be surrounded by other young professionals who not only strive to grow in their careers, but also walk with Jesus.”

Taking a leap of faith at the 2022 AYP National Conference

One of the most defining moments in her AYP experience came in 2022 when she attended her first national conference. Though initially hesitant especially not knowing anyone Diamond felt drawn to the event, especially by keynote speaker Pastor Myron Edmonds. The conference theme, Thrive, resonated deeply. By the end of the weekend, she felt just that: empowered, encouraged, and spiritually refreshed. The leadership tools she gained there didn’t just stay at the event; she brought them back to her local Young Adult Ministry and her professional life.

Today, Diamond feels a strong calling to serve and support Young Adult Ministries. Over time, she’s observed a growing generational divide in the church and believes young adults are essential to closing that gap. “Whatever that work looks like,” she says, “I feel called to help build that bridge.”

Diamond lives by a simple but powerful motto:
Be the change you want to see.

And the verse that grounds her journey is Galatians 6:9 —
“And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.”
