Daniel Chandler’s Path to Purpose

Answering a Call He Didn’t Know He Had

Adventist Young Professionals (AYP) was an answer to a call Daniel Chandler didn’t even realize he had. In Nashville, there was a growing desire for deeper community beyond traditional church services. He and others had talked for a long time about how to meet that need, and then they discovered AYP. It was exactly what Daniel had been searching for—a way to build intentional community not just locally, but also nationally and even internationally. As they began laying the foundation for a chapter in Nashville, Daniel says, “I truly believe we’ve created something beautiful together.”

One moment that really stood out to him was during one of their service days, when the group helped feed the unhoused at a local food pantry. Though the event had been planned in advance, Daniel recalls that “the presence of the Holy Spirit felt undeniable.” The people they served were warm and open, engaging in conversation throughout the morning. One local AYP member even shared hugs and tears with someone they met—it was raw, real, and deeply moving. “That level of authenticity had been missing for me,” Daniel says, “and the experience left me not just filled, but overflowing with joy and gratitude.” That day—and many others like it—have become pillars of what makes AYP such a meaningful part of his faith journey.

With gatherings ranging from vespers and Bible studies to social outings and community service, “AYP Nashville is full of people with purpose,” Daniel shares, “and AYP has become a place where those purposes intersect—with God, with each other, and with our local communities.”

Now, as AYP’s Church Relations Director, Daniel carries that same heart into his work of bridging the gap between young professionals and the local church.

“My vision is to help churches see young adults not as a demographic to fix, but as a generation to empower,” he explains. Rather than focusing solely on programs, Daniel is passionate about cultivating spaces where authenticity, purpose, and belonging can thrive.

“AYP has shown me that when young adults are invited to bring their full selves to the table, beautiful things happen. We don’t have to choose between deep faith and real connection—we were meant to have both.”
