Calling: Unshaken in Our Purpose

Trusting God with the Work We’re Called to Do

There’s something sacred about the moment you realize your work can be more than a paycheck—it can be a calling. But for many of us as young professionals, purpose doesn’t always feel clear. Our schedules are full, our inboxes are overflowing, and yet deep inside, we still wonder: Is this really what I’m meant to be doing?

In the face of that uncertainty, God offers us a promise—not of control, but of direction. “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight” (Proverbs 3:5–6).

God isn’t asking us to have every step figured out. He’s inviting us to trust Him with the next one.

Calling isn’t always about changing jobs or moving countries. Sometimes it’s about choosing to see your current job, your studies, or your skillset through a different lens—one shaped by eternal purpose. Romans 15:2 reminds us that “each of us should please our neighbors for their good, to build them up.” This tells us that our calling, at its core, is others-centered. No matter what your profession is, when you lead with compassion, serve with integrity, and build others up—you’re living out your purpose.

I believe that our career is a calling. Whether you work in a clinic, a classroom, a courtroom, or a creative studio, you are positioned for impact. But impact begins with clarity—and clarity begins with prayer. Before we assess our opportunities, we must assess our hearts. Before we set goals, we must ask: God, what are You calling me to do in this season?

That kind of question takes courage. It takes faith. It means admitting that we don’t always know what’s ahead. But it also means embracing the adventure of being led by a God who does.

If you’re in a season of discernment—considering a transition, navigating uncertainty, or simply trying to find meaning in your current path—remember this: your work matters. And when it’s surrendered to God, it becomes holy ground.

Let’s keep building lives of purpose—together. Because when we follow Christ with open hands and open hearts, He will lead us on a path we could never create on our own.
