A Surprising Revelation

-

Maybe it’s just me, but I really hate it when favoritism is being shown—especially when I’m not on the receiving end of it! We know that YHWH is a God of justice, so I found it curious that, as I’m reading the Gospel of John, the writer kept referring to himself as “the one whom Yahusha loved.” As if Yahusha didn’t love all of them! I asked myself, “Did Yahusha have favorites? Is there inequality with YHWH?”

I asked it as a rhetorical question to myself, but, as He does, He answered me anyway. He said, “Yes. There is inequality in the Kingdom of Heaven. There are levels.”

After I got over my initial surprise, He showed me that while on earth, Yahusha fed and ministered to many thousands of people before His death (Matt. 14:21). He also appeared to “more than 500” after His resurrection (1 Cor. 15:6). Then there was the 120 in the upper room at Pentecost (Acts 1:15). Yahusha sent out the 72 to proclaim the gospel (Luke 10:1). Then, of course, there were the twelve disciples. But of the twelve, Yahusha had a core group of three: Peter, James, and John, who saw His transfiguration (Matt. 17:1). But even of these three, John was the one, the closest, who even laid his head on Yahusha’s chest.

John wanted to be close to Yahusha, so he pressed in. What he wanted would not be withheld from him. YHWH told me that any of the disciples could’ve had the position John did. It wasn’t that John was Yahusha’s favorite; it was that Yahusha was John’s favorite. We can all get as much of YHWH as we want.

I can’t prove it from scripture, but I believe that as John was always hanging on Yahusha and resting his head on Him, John absorbed more of His essence, which is love. And it is reflected in what he wrote:

“Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God;
and everyone that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.
He that loveth not knoweth not God:
for God is love.”
1 John 4:7-8
