As we celebrate Adventist Young Professionals’ (AYP) fifth anniversary, I am filled with gratitude for the extraordinary journey we’ve shared. What began as a modest social media page to share testimonies has blossomed into a global community, far beyond what we initially envisioned. Each step of this journey has been guided by God’s hand, and I am thankful for the support and dedication of our team, donors, and partners.
Humble Beginnings
Our story began on the brink of the uncertainty of the COVID-19 pandemic, a time that reshaped the world. Initially, AYP’s purpose was simple: to connect people through stories of testimonies. As the pandemic unfolded, our virtual Bible studies set us on a trajectory toward building a holistic, Christ-centered community. This foundational year, though fraught with challenges, laid the groundwork for our future. Our daily virtual gatherings became a digital sanctuary, bridging distances and fostering connections that would eventually grow into a network of over 10,000 individuals from 100 countries. This remarkable growth during a global crisis was a testament to God’s plan for us, demonstrating that even in the face of hardship, He can turn challenges into incredible opportunities.
Celebrating God’s Blessings
Reflecting on our journey, it’s clear that God’s blessings have been abundant. Our early years were marked by themes that guided our mission and growth:
- 2020 – 2021 Reconnect: This theme was about rebuilding relationships and fostering unity after the global pandemic. We saw the power of connecting deeply with each other during a time of physical separation.
- 2021-2022 Brave Hearts: Emphasizing courage, this period encouraged us to embrace faith and leadership. It inspired bold initiatives and significant expansion in our support and resources.
- 2022-2023 Thrive: We focused on reaching new heights and living life abundantly. Our community members engaged actively with our resources, growing in their personal and professional lives.
- 2023-2024 Cultivate: This theme emphasized nurturing spiritual growth and deepening our connection with Christ. It shaped our programs and gatherings, helping our members develop meaningful rhythms of faith.
- 2024 – 2025 Behold: Our current theme invites us to recognize and embrace the new things God is doing among us. We are encouraged to stay open and responsive to the transformative work in our lives and community.
Personal Reflections
Looking back, I am profoundly moved by the journey we’ve undertaken together. Each theme has reflected our growth, challenges, and triumphs. From our humble beginnings during a global pandemic to our current focus on recognizing God’s new work, our path has been guided by faith and supported by a dedicated community.
As we look forward, I am excited about the future where AYP aims to connect and empower Christ-centered young professional leaders in every city across the globe. Your unwavering support has been crucial to our success, and I am honored to continue this journey with you.
