"And the words of the Lord are flawless, like silver purified in a crucible, like gold refined seven times." (Psalm 12:6)
Everyone is lying to David with flattering lips and deceptive tongues. We see people saying one thing with their mouth and another with their heart. Boasting that their lips are their own and no one can master them.
And in the middle of that, God speaks. Because of the oppression of the weak and the groaning of the needy, I will now arise.
The words of the Lord contrasted with the words of the world. Human speech in this psalm is manipulation, flattery, deception and boasting while God’s words are flawless, purified seven times and the most refined thing possible.
Have you been in environments where you couldn’t trust what people were saying? Where the gap between the spoken word and the actual intent was wide enough to fall into and where the discipline in those environments is to keep returning to something that can actually be trusted? In these moments, knowing that there isn’t a hidden agenda gives peace of mind.
