John 14

Peace That Holds

"Do not let your hearts be troubled." (John 14:1)

Jesus spoke those words to people who were walking straight into confusion, fear, and the worst week of their lives. His peace was never dependent on circumstances being manageable.

I’ve had to work through the fact that peace is not the absence of problems. It’s the presence of God. And calm environments don’t automatically produce calm hearts. I’ve had seasons where everything looked fine externally and I was running on anxiety underneath.

Jesus keeps pointing His disciples back to trust. Not denial. Not pretending the difficulty isn’t real. Confidence that God is still leading even when the future isn’t clear.

Peace grows through dependence, not control. I keep having to relearn that.

QUESTION TO CONSIDER
What would it look like to trust God more and try to control outcomes less?
