That line feels deeply human to me. Martha believed in Jesus. And she was also grieving something that felt like a missed opportunity. Both things were true at the same time.
Waiting when you believe God could have acted differently is one of the harder experiences of faith. Delays can quietly build confusion, frustration, questions you don’t always say out loud. And Jesus was still present in the middle of all of it.
What encourages me is that Jesus wasn’t threatened by honest emotion. He wept. He listened. He stayed engaged with hurting people instead of managing the moment from a distance.
Sometimes God’s timing only makes sense later. But even in seasons where the answer feels delayed, His absence shouldn’t be the conclusion.
QUESTION TO CONSIDER
Where do you need to trust that God is still present even when the timing feels wrong?
