"Noah was a righteous man, blameless among the people of his time, and he walked faithfully with God." (Genesis 6:9)
By the 6th chapter of the Bible, the world had become violent and corrupt. Every inclination of every human heart was toward evil. But in the middle of that, Noah walked faithfully with God. In the same way Enoch did, he walked with God while everything else was going a different direction.
The environments and culture we live in makes faithfulness harder. The default assumptions of the people around us are usually pulling in direction away from God. And the temptation in those environments is either to conform quietly or to perform your resistance loudly. Noah seems to have done neither, he just walked.
God noticed. Out of a world going one direction, God saw one man going another. And He said: come into the ark. I’m doing something and you’re part of it.
Faithfulness in a corrupt environment rarely is audible or noticeable at first. It just keeps walking and God sees what most people miss.
