Genesis 41
The Moment You've Been Prepared For
"Then Pharaoh said to Joseph, 'Since God has made all this known to you, there is no one so discerning and wise as you.'" (Genesis 41:39)
Joseph was pulled from prison, cleaned up, and brought before Pharaoh. He interpreted the dream. Pharaoh made him second in command over all of Egypt.
Thirteen years from the pit to the palace.
What I keep noticing is that everything Joseph learned in every painful season was exactly what he needed for that moment. He’d learned administration in Potiphar’s house. He’d learned how to manage resources and people in prison. He’d learned to interpret dreams and speak to power. Every season that looked like a detour had been building specific competencies.
The thirteen years weren’t a waste. They were the preparation. And none of the preparation made sense as it was happening. It only became clear in retrospect.
I’ve had to hold that in seasons where I couldn’t see why I was where I was. The preparation isn’t always legible in the middle of it. But it’s still happening.
