Daniel 12

The End Is Not the End

"Those who are wise will shine like the brightness of the heavens, and those who lead many to righteousness, like the stars for ever and ever." (Daniel 12:3)

Daniel 12 doesn’t necessarily tie everything up neatly. There are still sealed scrolls, still things unexplained, still a timeframe Daniel is told he won’t fully understand. He’s told to go his way. Rest. Wait for the end.

That’s how the book closes. Not with resolution. With trust.

And that final image, those who lead many to righteousness shining like stars, is worth carrying. It’s a different measure of a life than what the world uses. The kingdoms and the beasts and the power plays of the previous eleven chapters don’t make the final image. The people who were faithful, who led others toward God in the middle of all of it, they’re the ones the book ends on.

Daniel spent his whole life doing exactly that. He just kept showing up. Kept praying. Kept telling the truth. Kept refusing to compromise. And God kept using him, chapter after chapter, decade after decade, in a foreign land that was never really his home.

The invitation at the end of Daniel isn’t to understand everything. It’s to go your way and be faithful. Trust that the sealed things will open when they’re meant to. And in the meantime, lead people toward righteousness. That’s enough. That’s everything.

What would it look like to be faithful today without needing to see how everything resolves?
