Daniel 11

Faithfulness in the Long Middle

"The people who know their God will firmly resist." (Daniel 11:32)

Daniel 11 is the most detailed prophetic chapter in the book, full of kings and conflicts and specific historical events unfolding over centuries. It’s a long chapter and it can feel exhausting to read. That exhaustion might be the point.

The chapter is a record of power shifting, alliances breaking, leaders rising and falling, violence and betrayal cycling through without resolution. It looks like history because it is. And somewhere in the middle of all that, we see that the people who know their God will firmly resist.

Knowing God isn’t passive in this context. It’s what produces resistance. It’s what holds you upright when the powers around you are shifting and the culture is pressing you toward accommodation. You can’t firm up against something that large on your own convictions alone. You need something deeper. A relationship with God substantial enough to hold you when everything else is moving.

And that kind of knowing is built in ordinary seasons, through consistency, through showing up when nothing dramatic is happening.

QUESTION TO CONSIDER
What does it mean to know God in a way that actually produces steadiness when the pressure comes?
