"Do not be afraid, Daniel. Since the first day that you set your mind to gain understanding and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard." (Daniel 10:12)
Daniel had been praying for three weeks. Mourning. Fasting. Waiting. And when the answer finally came, the messenger told him: the prayer was heard on day one. The delay wasn’t God being slow. There was a battle happening in a realm Daniel couldn’t see.
The silence during those three weeks felt like nothing. It felt like the prayer was going nowhere. And Daniel pressed through it anyway. Fasting and mourning. Faithfulness in the absence of visible response.
I’ve had seasons where I prayed consistently and heard nothing long enough that I started wondering if I was doing it wrong. What Daniel 10 does for me is reframe the silence. Not as absence. As warfare. Things are happening that I don’t have access to from where I’m standing. The prayer is in motion even when the answer isn’t visible yet.
That’s not a reason to be passive. Daniel kept going for three weeks. It’s just a reason not to let silence become the final word.
