Festus wanted to do the Jews a favor and suggested moving the trial to Jerusalem. Paul knew what that meant. More delay. More danger. More politics. And he had a right. So he used it.
He appealed to Caesar.
That single sentence changed everything. Festus had to send him to Rome. The political maneuvering of the local leaders suddenly became irrelevant. Paul used a legal mechanism available to him as a Roman citizen to move his case to the highest court in the empire.
There’s a lesson in that about using the tools and rights available to you without apology. Paul didn’t only pray and wait. He also acted strategically within the systems he was navigating. Faith and wisdom operating together.
Some people spiritualize every situation to the point of passivity. They wait for God to move while refusing to use the doors that are already open. Paul prayed and he appealed. He trusted God and he understood the system he was operating in.
Both things are faithful.
